The Forest of Love

Overview

The developers are upfront about the recipe: classic top-down games like Zelda, a bit of Animal Crossing charm, and then a very large dose of raunchy smut. What is surprising is how well the first two halves hold up on their own. It is a genuinely pleasant adventure game about meeting the neighbors and figuring out the forest.

The 8-bit presentation carries a lot of it. There is a custom in-game language you can actually decipher, which is the kind of detail that only exists because somebody cared. The tone is casual and sex-positive rather than grim, and the content leans feral, cute and sizeplay rather than horror.

Content-wise it is substantial: Acts 1, 2 and 3 are fully playable, with 11 animated scenes including a large group scene and 46 illustrated scenes, many of them multi-illustration sequences. It runs about half an hour per session, plays in the browser, and ships on Windows, macOS, Linux and Android with touch support and controller input. There is an in-game bug reporter on the desktop builds.

Story

You arrive in the forest, meet the critters living there, and start pulling at the mysteries underneath. The neighbors are friendly. Extremely friendly.
