Overview

Sunshine Countryside is the gentlest game on this list and it is not close. It is a free first-person dating sim about spending a vacation in the countryside with your best friend, catching bugs, and letting the days go by.

The whole thing runs on atmosphere. Cel-shaded visuals, a chill soundtrack, sessions that last a few minutes rather than hours. There is no pressure system, no fail state, nothing chasing you. You wander, you talk, you catch things, and the relationship moves at its own pace.

It is built in Unreal and it looks considerably better than the genre usually manages, which is part of why it lands. Subtitles are included, no generative AI was used anywhere in it, and the whole thing is free. Consider it the palate cleanser after the backrooms and the woods.

Story

You and your best friend booked a week in the countryside. Nothing is wrong, nobody is in danger, and the only thing that changes over the week is the two of you.
