Shred & Tear: Explosive Kajun

Overview

Shred & Tear: Explosive Kajun is what happens when someone says let's make a high-speed hack and slash, and then cranks everything up to eleven. You play as Kajun-chan, a weaponized creation trying to escape a nightmare underground facility after being freed by a mysterious creature named Gnochi.

Combat is push-forward style: the game wants you moving aggressively. There is a basic combo system, but the real fun is in the cooldown abilities, like the burst move that clears space and the dash drill that carves through waves. Cooldowns are not free, you recharge the big moves by collecting rage orbs from defeated enemies, which creates a constant momentum loop.

It also mixes in quick time events and cinematic finishers that blend 3D animation with hand-drawn comic panels, which keeps the pace cinematic without slowing the action down. There are customization settings too, including how much armor the character wears. There is a demo, and honestly it is one of those games where ten minutes tells you if it is your kind of madness.

Story

Kajun-chan was built as a weapon and kept underground for it. A strange creature called Gnochi opens the wrong door, and now the only way out of the facility is straight through everything the place has left to throw at her.
