Project Virtual Girl

Overview

Project Virtual Girl is the least narrative game on this list and it knows it. You spend time with four young women in a virtual space, and everything is built around direct interaction rather than story: change their outfits, set growth goals, improve their abilities through activities, and take it from there.

The selling point is the simulation layer. Real-time physics runs on clothing, hair and body, which is the kind of thing that either works or embarrasses itself, and here it mostly works. The first-person camera plus hand-guided navigation makes the whole thing feel closer to a toy than a game, which is clearly the intent.

It reached V1.5 Final and the developer states no generative AI was used. The free demo is a 335 MB Windows download and covers enough of the systems to know whether the physics and customization are worth the full version. Windows only, no Android, iOS or VR support.

Story

There is no plot to speak of. There is a virtual space, four characters, a wardrobe and a set of sliders, and the game trusts you to find your own reason to be there.
