Overview

GirlDivers is basically top-down squad roguelike energy with pixel art and a much more mischievous presentation. Missions are procedural, spread across different planets, with objectives like clearing infestations, collecting items or launching rockets. It is not just kill everything, it is kill everything while doing the job and getting out alive.

Loadouts matter a lot. You run a squad with weapons and gadgets, and you can call in stratagem-style support: air strikes, bombing runs, special weapons. Cooldown-based tools that can save a run or completely backfire if you panic-use them. Progression is built around unlocking gear, and missions are scored, which gives you reasons to replay beyond I survived.

One clever detail: the HUD portraits react to damage, so the game visually tells you how your squad is falling apart as you take hits. And it has an optional SFW mode, which makes it one of the more stream-friendly entries if you want to cover the gameplay.

Story

An alien menace is winning, and humanity's answer is to keep dropping squads onto contested planets until something sticks. You run those squads, one procedural mission at a time.
